Debuchy Arsenal move 'imminent'

Arsenal's signing of Mathieu Debuchy from Newcastle is set to be confirmed "imminently," sources have told ESPN FC.

France full-back Debuchy has already indicated that he will move to London in the summer as the Gunners look to replace Bacary Sagna, who joined Manchester City last month.

Newcastle were unwilling to allow the deal to go through until they had confirmed a replacement, with manager Alan Pardew keen to avoid a repeat of scenarios in which outgoing transfers have been done only for incoming deals to fall through.

But the imminent arrival of Feyenoord and Holland full-back Daryl Janmaat at St James' Park means Newcastle will allow Debuchy to leave, with the 28-year-old having already held talks and agreed personal terms with Arsenal.

Debuchy will join Alexis Sanchez as the Gunners' second high-profile signing of the summer, with chief executive Ivan Gazidis telling supporters last week that he was working on several more deals ahead of the new season.

Meanwhile, Newcastle sources have told ESPN FC that the signing of Janmaat will not be the last of the summer for Pardew, who is targeting "one or two strikers" as he looks to solve his team's goal-scoring problems.

France midfielder Remy Cabella, Dutch attacker Siem de Jong, ex-Sunderland midfielder Jack Colback and 20-year-old Spanish forward Ayoze Perez have already joined Newcastle this summer, while reports suggest that Monaco striker Emmanuel Riviere has arrived in Newcastle for a medical.
