Dos Santos to leave Barcelona

Jonathan dos Santos is to join Villarreal from Barcelona in a deal which could eventually be worth two million euros.

Dos Santos, 24, had been expected to leave the Camp Nou this summer, after coming through La Masia youth system but failed to establish himself in the Barca first team.

Real Sociedad and Celta Vigo had reportedly also been interested in the Mexican player, but he now looks set to join his brother Giovani -- another graduate of La Masia -- at Villarreal.

News of the move was revealed via a statement on the club's official website.

"Barcelona and Villarreal CF have agreed to terms for the player Jonathan dos Santos," the statement said. "The transfer fee, which is a combination of a fixed sum and variables, could reach two million euros, and FC Barcelona reserve the right to be involved in the possible future sale of the player."

Dos Santos is unlikely to be the last squad player to leave Barca this summer, with new coach Luis Enrique and sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta reportedly hoping to move on Cristian Tello, Isaac Cuenca, Bojan Krkic, Oier Olazabal, Ibrahim Afellay and Alex Song.

Tello is said to be close to a loan move to Porto, while Cuenca could join Deportivo La Coruna, and Bojan may end up at Malaga.
