Frank Lampard future call imminent

ESPN FC's Janusz Michallik recaps Frank Lampard's career at Chelsea and speculates what is next for the 35-year old.

Frank Lampard has told Sky Sports News he will soon reveal where his future lies but hopes it will include further appearances for England.

- Transfer Talk: Cole to Roma and Negredo on the go?

The 36-year-old has left Chelsea after 13 years at Stamford Bridge and has been tipped to sign for New York City FC, who will join Major League Soccer in 2015.

But Chelsea's record goalscorer said he has a choice between several clubs as he weighs up where to go next.

"At the moment I have got a few options," he said. "There is no exclusive but I will be making a decision very shortly."

New York City FC have already signed David Villa from Atletico Madrid and the former Spain striker will go on loan to another club in Manchester City's global family, Melbourne City, before the MLS team play their first competitive game.

Lampard, who scored 211 goals in 648 games for Chelsea, captained England in their 0-0 draw against Costa Rica in their winless World Cup campaign.

But he hopes his 106th cap, which brings him level with Sir Bobby Charlton, will not prove his last.

He added: "Of course I would like to play for England again. But maybe you cannot play for ever so again I've switched off for the moment. I have not made that decision either.

"I'm very aware that my England career cannot go on for ever and I have enjoyed every minute so we will see.

"It will be a difficult decision but at the end of the day I would not ever have dreamed of having such an England career so I can only be happy with whatever decision I make."
