Buttner agrees Dinamo Moscow move

Alexander Buttner was never able to establish himself as a first-team regular at Old Trafford.

Alexander Buttner has brought his two-year stay at Manchester United by agreeing a move to Dinamo Moscow.

The Dutch left-back, who was Patrice Evra's deputy, only started nine league games for United and made just 28 appearances in all competitions.

He recently criticised incoming United manager Louis van Gaal for not picking him for Netherlands and made the surprise claim he had been named man of the match 14 times in his United career.

Buttner's departure had been on the cards as United close in on a deal for Southampton left-back Luke Shaw, while Evra has signed a one-year contract extension to remain at Old Trafford.

The 25-year-old, who signed from Vitesse Arnhem in 2012, scored on his United debut against Wigan but was never able to displace Evra.

He has now agreed a move to Dinamo Moscow, although the Russian club's official website said the final details of the transfer were still to be settled.

"I want to play in the Champions League and win trophies," Buttner said in quotes translated by Reuters. "Dinamo are building a very strong team and I am sure that we will be good enough to try and win the league title this season.

"This is my first time in Moscow and I will need time to adjust with my family. They flew out with me, so it would be easier to adapt. The training ground also has fantastic facilities. I am happy that I joined Dinamo."

United, looking to reshape after only finishing seventh last season, have already allowed veteran defenders Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic to leave on free transfers at the end of the season, while Ryan Giggs has retired and taken up the role of assistant manager.

Besides Shaw, United are in talks to sign Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera.
