Correa back on Atletico radar

Argentine starlet Angel Correa's move to Atletico Madrid appears to be back on.

Argentine starlet Angel Correa's move to Atletico Madrid appears to be back on after the young attacker reportedly underwent a successful heart operation in Miami.

Correa, 19, had agreed to join Atletico from Argentine club San Lorenzo for an initial fee of around six million euros, and the deal was announced on the Atletico website in late May. However a medical examination carried out in Madrid picked up on a heart issue, and the transfer was put into limbo while the player's health was in question.

The operation now appears to have been a success, according to a statement  from the La Liga champions.

"Angel Correa has undergone a cardiac micro-surgery procedure to solve the issue which was detected during the medical which took place in Madrid on May 28," the statement said. "The player, who decided to undergo the operation under the supervision of the medical teams of Atletico Madrid and San Lorenzo de Almagro, is already back in his room."

Correa himself told the Atletico website that he was feeling good and looking forward to leaving hospital and starting on his recovery.

"I feel very good, it has all gone perfectly," he said. "The doctors have told me that in a few days I will be able to leave hospital and begin the recovery."

The player was to be allowed to remain at San Lorenzo and play the remainder of their Copa Libertadores campaign after the World Cup, however that now appears unlikely.

The under-age Argentina international already has 12 goals in 61 games for the Buenos Aires club, a record which has brought comparisons with former Atletico and current Manchester City star Sergio Aguero, and had lead to reported interest from many of Europe's other biggest clubs -- including City, Barcelona and Arsenal.
