Buttner slams Van Gaal, set for exit

Alexander Buttner has struggled to secure first-team football at Manchester United.

Alexander Buttner is set to leave Manchester United for Dinamo Moscow after criticising new manager Louis van Gaal and concluding there is no future for him at Old Trafford.

- Transfer Talk: A Shaw thing for United

The left-back, who has been Patrice Evra's understudy at United for the past two seasons, claimed he could not understand why Van Gaal did not select him for the Holland team.

Buttner, who only started nine league games for United and has made just 28 appearances in all, made the bizarre claim that he has been named the best player on the pitch on half of those occasions.

He told De Telegraaf: "Van Gaal never gave me the chance in the Dutch national team, despite being voted man of the match 14 times at Manchester United.

"Apparently, he is not very confident about me. So I think this is the right moment to leave."

United are trying to sign left-back Luke Shaw from Southampton while Evra has put pen to paper on a new deal, so Buttner may have been relegated to third choice anyway.

But his agent Alexander Bursac echoed his client's criticisms of Van Gaal, telling Voetbal International: "Dinamo Moscow have big plans. Staying at Manchester United was never an option this summer.

"In the last two years Van Gaal has ignored him again and again. What kind of outlook is that for him?"
