Aquino arrives in Chicago

ESPN FC's John Sutcliffe reports from Solider Field where Mexico are hoping to regroup following a number of injuries when they face Bosnia-Herzegovina on Tuesday.

Villarreal midfielder Javier Aquino arrived in Chicago on Monday night ahead of Mexico's friendly vs. Bosnia-Herzegovina, although he is not expected to see action.

Aquino said he was tired after traveling from China to join El Tri, where he was a late addition to the 23-man squad in replacement of the injured Luis Montes.

Marshall: Position battles continue

"The truth is that you never want it to go badly for another player but I am very happy to get the call up," said Aquino. "Physically, I feel fine. Now I have to shake off the long trip to I can report ready to play."

Aquino was not set to play vs. Bosnia-Herzegovina at Soldier Field, but was not yet ruled out vs. Portugal on Friday.

Rafa Marquez, nursing a bruised right foot, will sit out both the Bosnia and Portugal friendlies.

Montes broke his leg in two places after colliding with Ecuador's Alejandro Segundo Castillo during the 35th minute of their friendly last week in Arlington, Texas. Montes returned to Guadalajara for surgery on Sunday and is expected to be back on the pitch in four to six weeks, according to reports.
