Two people have been injured in a car accident involving Germany national team players during a PR event in South Tyrol on Tuesday, the sponsor confirmed.
German Touring Car Masters (DTM) driver Pascal Wehrlein and reportedly Formula One driver Nico Rosberg were involved in an accident with two Germany players on board.
"During the visit to the training camp of the national team, an accident happened: DTM race driver Pascal Wehrlein, while driving on a cordoned off street, injured two persons, who unexpectedly were at location," a Mercedes Benz press release read.
"We cannot furnish particulars at the moment, both persons are under medical care."
According to a report in Die Welt, F1 race driver Rosberg, who was driving in front, hit the brakes, and Wehrlein tried to veer, but hit the spectators.
The newspaper, along with other news outlets, also reports that Germany internationals Julian Draxler and Benedikt Hoewedes were on board the cars.
