'Inter deal for Ince could take weeks'

Thomas Ince's father, Paul, played for Inter in the 1990s.
Thomas Ince was managed by his father Paul while at Blackpool last season.

Inter Milan are close to signing Thomas Ince, although it could take a few weeks for the deal to go through, according to the Italian club's director of sport Piero Ausilio.

- Wilson: Nerazzurri season review

The former Blackpool and Crystal Palace winger arrived in Milan on Sunday night for talks with the Serie A side. The 22-year-old was shown around the club's facilities on Monday, when negotiations over a contract commenced.

Those talks could last up to a fortnight, however, with Ausilio saying Inter fans will have to be patient before welcoming the next Ince to the club after his father Paul became a terrace hero in just two seasons for the Nerazzurri in the 1990s.

"Nothing's been concluded yet," Ausilio told reporters in Milan after a meeting with Ince, the player's father and Inter president Erick Thohir.

"At the moment, the lad's here to get to know how things are. We've got to know him today while his father's always been a great friend of Inter's. We've laid the foundations and we'll see what happens in the next few weeks, but it's still too soon to say."

Ince was clearly impressed with his first day in Milan, telling Sky Sport Italia how delighted he was to be in talks with the Italian club.

"This is only the first step of negotiations, but it's an honour to have a club like Inter, with such a great history, interested in me. This would represent a great opportunity for me," said the 22-year-old.

"I've been to the San Siro -- my father had told me a lot about it. Now Inter are in a transitional period and I'm sure I could do well here, showing my talent, but I want to think things through first. I'll take a fortnight to make up my mind, deciding what to do together with my dad."
