Real: Quest for Undecima starts now

Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale validates his choice to join Real Madrid after he scored to give his team the lead in a 4-1 triumph over Atletico Madrid.

Real Madrid captain Iker Casillas and president Florentino Perez have said the club's quest for an Undecima -- 11th European Cup win -- is the next priority.

Speaking after two days of celebration following the 4-1 extra time Champions League final triumph over Atletico Madrid that ensured the winning of the long-awaited Decima on Saturday, the duo said Real would not be resting on their laurels.

Sergio Ramos gave Carlo Ancelotti's side the platform for victory with the 93rd minute header that rescued their hopes before further goals from Gareth Bale, Marcelo and Cristiano Ronaldo sealed the result.

The victorious squad flew back to Madrid from Lisbon after the game, arriving at the famous Cibeles city centre statue at around 6.30am local time.

Sunday evening brought further celebrations, culminating in a spectacular show at the Bernabeu at which Casillas told a packed stadium he did not want to leave it so long before his next Champions League win.

"Thank you for waiting -- but it has been worth it after 12 years to win it and become kings of Europe," the long-serving goalkeeper told fans. "This Decima belongs to every Madrid fan around the world, so I hope you enjoy it. After today it's time to think about the 11th."

Perez, who accompanied the players to ceremonies at Madrid's town hall and regional government building on Sunday, said: "This is the culmination of a season that has been very tough.

"From the first game, it could be seen that the players wanted to win this Champions League. In the end, what we witnessed was extraordinary. We know we have the best fans in the world, spread all over the planet. They're very loyal but also have high expectations and they are already wanting La Undecima. Every year they want to go one better, and that has made this club a legend."

An elated Cristiano Ronaldo, who had waited five seasons at Madrid to win the trophy, echoed what he had said to supporters at his presentation on arrival in Spain in summer 2009.

"I remember the first day I walked into the Bernabeu," he said. "Yesterday we were able to win the most important trophy that can be won with this club. One, two, three: Hala Madrid!"

Meanwhile, midfielder Luka Modric -- who had promised to cut off his flowing locks should Real win the trophy -- fulfilled the promise, Ronaldo's personal hairdresser revealed on Twitter.

"A promise is a debt!!! We won La Decima and the sooner the better... a change of look for Luka Modric," Miguel Siero wrote.

Blancos right-back Dani Carvajal was also sporting a new look, having dyed his bushy beard blonde.
