First player leaves under Van Gaal

Gabriele Marcotti joins Adrian Healey in Lisbon to discuss the latest news about Man United including rumours of Toni Kroos and Cesc Fàbregas joining the squad.

Manchester United have completed the first departure of the Louis van Gaal era by allowing youngster Jack Barmby to sign for newly promoted Leicester City.

- Payne: Scholes hits the bullseye ... again

The 19-year-old will join the Foxes at the start of July and will become a member of their Development Squad.

The striker is the son of Nick Barmby, who played for Tottenham, Middlesbrough, Everton, Liverpool, Leeds and Hull and won 23 caps for England.

The younger Barmby, who can also play as a winger, was the top scorer in United's under-18 team but never made his first-team debut.

The England under-19 international spent the second half of last season on loan at League Two Hartlepool, scoring five goals in 17 games.

Meanwhile, United midfielder Shinji Kagawa denied that he will be using the World Cup to try and impress new manager Van Gaal.

The former Borussia Dortmund player, who failed to score last season and struggled to make his mark under David Moyes, is expected to be a key member of the Japan side who face Ivory Coast, Colombia and Greece in Group C.

And he said on United's official website: "I don't want to get my priorities mixed up here -- the important thing is for Japan to win at the World Cup.

"I'm not using the World Cup as a place to showcase myself for [van Gaal]. I'll deal with that after this tournament is over."
