Carlos Vela aware of Arsenal talks

Real Sociedad attacker Carlos Vela said he is to think long and hard before deciding on a possible return to Arsenal this summer, after admitting he would be open to a transfer.

When Vela joined the Basque side in 2011, Arsenal reportedly only gave up 50 percent of his "rights," and retained the right to re-sign the Mexico international for just four million euros. That price looks especially tempting now after Vela scored 16 goals in 37 La Liga games last season.

AS reports that the two clubs this week opened talks -- with La Real offering around six million euros to buy the remaining 50 percent of the rights, and Arsenal wanting twice that amount to relinquish any hold on the player.

The future of Vela's 30 million euro-rated current teammate Antoine Griezmann, who is also thought to interest to Gunners manager Arsene Wenger, could also come up during the discussions.

Would Arsenal be 'stupid' not to bring back Carlos Vela?

Vela told AS that he was aware discussions were ongoing. "The club is working so that I stay here," Vela said. "I am working on it in my own way too. But here is still not anything concrete, it is not anything that is ready to be closed. There is still time for it to be done."

Asked what he would like to happen, the 25-year-old said he was not yet sure. He said: "I wanted to finish the season well, in the best form, I wanted to have some days to think about what to do, where would be my best option, what is the best for my future, and then decide.

"As of today I have not decided anything, nor have I said anything. These days I will rest to mentally rest and analyse what is the best thing to do."

Despite prompting from the reporter Vela refused to commit his future to La Real, while admitting he did enjoy playing for the San Sebastian club.

"I am here, it has been good, I have enjoyed myself a lot," he said. "I cannot say if this is the first or the last option, but it is clear it is one of my options.

"I am very happy here, I have enjoyed every moment I have been in San Sebastian, because I have some incredible teammates who have made me happy every moment. Being happy here for sure plays a part in analysing what to do."
