Mangala, 23, will join up with the rest of France's World Cup squad this week at Clairefontaine with his focus on the upcoming challenge Les Bleus face in South America.

In the meantime, he is facing speculation over his future, with Premier League duo City and Chelsea reportedly leading the charge for the former Standard Liege defender.

Mangala revealed to beIN SPORTS he had told his agent -- Jose Mourinho's representative Jorge Mendes -- he did not want to know about transfer developments until after the World Cup.

However, he added: "There have been discussions with Manchester City, but the clubs did not reach an agreement."

Asked whether he would prefer to join City or Chelsea, he replied: "Chelsea, because it is London."

The centre-back's powerful physique, as well as his prominent displays with Porto in Europe, have convinced English clubs he is tailor-made for the rigours of the Premier League.

While Mangala, who has two international caps, admitted England would be an attractive destination, he acknowledged ambition would be the overriding factor in deciding his next career step.

"It is true that I love the Premier League because it is a spectacular league," Mangala, who was born just outside Paris but grew up in Belgium, explained. "Every player wants to play in the biggest clubs. I am an ambitious player and the team that can help me win trophies is the one that interests me."
