Mbia wants Champions League club

Sevilla midfielder Stephane Mbia does not expect to be back at Queens Park Rangers next season, as he has his sights set on Champions League football.

Lomas: Three Things

Mbia, 27, celebrated winning the Europa League with Sevilla on Wednesday, successfully converting in the penalty shootout to cap a memorable loan spell in Andalusia.

The Cameroon international could be returning to a Premier League club later this month, as QPR reached the playoff final on the same night he tasted continental glory.

Now Mbia is dreaming of even bigger nights next season, though a return to Sevilla also seems unlikely as Unai Emery's side did not qualify for Europe's premier club tournament.

"I think it is difficult because I want to play in the Champions League," Mbia told ESPN after the Europa League final. "I am so happy for the group, for the team but I have so much ambition.

"I am happy to win this cup and we will see what happens at the World Cup. I want to play in the Champions League next year and try to win the Champions League. This is my dream."

Mbia revealed Sevilla had practised penalties beforehand and insisted he had no doubt he would score, adding: "I wanted to take the first one but the manager said take the second one. I had no problem. I had so much confidence, the manager gave me a lot of confidence. We showed that we can do anything. This season has been unbelievable."
