Samir Nasri reveals World Cup fears

Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri has said he is not expecting to be included in France's World Cup squad.

Nasri was long ignored by Les Bleus coach Didier Deschamps after receiving a three-match ban for clashing with a journalist following France's exit from Euro 2012.

But despite forcing his way back into contention, Nasri -- who scored in his side's Premier League title-clinching 2-0 win over West Ham on Sunday -- was omitted from Deschamp's last selection for the friendly against Netherlands in March.

"I'll go on holiday and watch the World Cup on TV,'' Nasri told Canal Plus.

Some have claimed that Nasri has fallen out of favour once again with Deschamps due to his below-par performance in the first leg of France's World Cup playoff against Ukraine in November.

Deschamps has denied this is the case, and Nasri added: "I don't have much to reproach myself with. I had one bad game in Ukraine like most of my teammates. Everything else, it's just pretenses, false excuses."

City manager Manuel Pellegrini has warned that it will be a big mistake if Nasri is left out of France's World Cup squad.

"The manager of France hasn't said about the list, but I can't believe Samir Nasri won't be in it because he was one of the best players in the Premier League and very important for our squad," Pellegrini said after the West Ham win.

"It will be an important mistake if he doesn't play in the World Cup."

Nasri has won 41 caps for France since making his debut in 2007.
