Omar Gonzalez out 1-2 weeks

Adidas Soccer's brazucaCam is touring the globe leading up to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil and the latest stop on the journey is the United States.

CARSON, Calif. -- The Los Angeles Galaxy say defender Omar Gonzalez will be sidelined a week or two after injuring his left knee.

Omar Gonzalez's injured knee won't keep him from reporting the the United States' World Cup camp.

Gonzalez was injured last Saturday during a game against Colorado and left at halftime.

Galaxy spokesman Brendan Hannan said Friday that Gonzalez "tweaked" the knee and that Los Angeles coach Bruce Arena believes the defender will report on time to the U.S. national team's pre-World Cup training camp, which starts Wednesday in Stanford, Calif.

Gonzalez had surgery in January 2012 to repair a torn ligament in the knee and returned that July 4. The 25-year-old was a Major League Soccer All-Star last year.

Kofi Opare replaced Gonzalez at Colorado, and is likely to partner Leonardo at the back when the Galaxy visit Portland on Sunday.

In other MLS injury news, the San Jose Earthquakes announced that defender Andreas Goerlitz will miss the rest of the season after tearing his ACL in Wednesday's game against Colorado.
