FA hand Juan Cala three-match ban

Cardiff defender Juan Cala has been banned for three matches by the Football Association after being found guilty of misconduct.

Juan Cala is given his marching orders against Sunderland.
Juan Cala will miss Cardiff's first two games in the Championship next season.

• Morris: Relegation sealed

The Spaniard was sent off in the Bluebirds' 4-0 defeat at Sunderland last month for denying Connor Wickham a goalscoring opportunity, but this punishment related to his conduct as he left the field and made his way to the players' tunnel.

A statement on the FA's official website read: "Cardiff City's Juan Cala will serve a three-match suspension with immediate effect after a misconduct charge against him was found proven.

"The charge, which Cala denied, was that his behaviour in or around the tunnel area after the end of Cardiff's game against Sunderland on April 27, 2014 amounted to improper conduct.

"Cala was also fined 12,500 pounds following an independent regulatory commission hearing."

The ban means Cala will miss the final Premier League game of the season at home to Chelsea, plus his team's first two matches back in the Championship. Cala was absent for last weekend's defeat at Newcastle as he served the suspension for his professional foul at the Stadium of Light.
