Giggs unperturbed by future uncertainty

Ryan Giggs spoke of his pride at seeing youngsters shine, but also shared his anger for the stamp on Adnan Januzaj in United's 3-1 win over Hull.

Ryan Giggs insists he is unworried about the delay in determining whether he will have a future at Manchester United.

Ryan Giggs replaces Tom Lawrence for what might be his final appearance at Old Trafford.
Ryan Giggs made what may have been his final appearance for Man Utd at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

• Atkins: The United way
• Brewin: Silver linings
• Okwonga: Youth movement

And the interim manager, whose playing deal expires in the summer, believes the out-of-contract pair of Patrice Evra and Rio Ferdinand are similarly unconcerned.

United will wait until a new manager is appointed before deciding if they want to keep the three veterans on the playing staff and each could only have one game left of his career at the club.

The 40-year-old Giggs brought himself on for his 963rd United appearance in Tuesday's 3-1 win over Hull and has yet to announce if he will retire.

"I have not decided yet," he said in a news conference. "Nothing has changed, I will wait until the season has finished and then get a holiday and think about it in the next couple of weeks."

Giggs believes he, Evra and Ferdinand will know their fate in the next few weeks but also expects United to sign players in their positions.

He added: "For myself, it is pretty relaxed. I don't know if it is the same with Rio and Patrice, I expect it is, it is not as if they are young players and they are up in the air. If they carry on, they carry on and if they leave, they leave. New players are going to come in anyway, whether they stay so it is up in the air but in the next couple of weeks, I think it will get sorted [for] the three of us."

United are keen to keep Giggs in a coaching capacity with Louis van Gaal expected to be appointed as the successor to the sacked David Moyes as manager.

But Giggs is unsure of the timescale for an appointment, saying: "It could be the next few days, it could be the next couple of weeks. Nothing has changed since Saturday."
