Maxime Gonalans likely to join Napoli

Maxime Gonalons will likely complete a move to Napoli in the summer, the Lyon midfielder's agent has claimed.

Maxime Gonalons could finally complete his move to Napoli this summer, his agent says.

Insigne on way out?

Gonalons, 25, would have joined the Italian club in January had Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas and coach Remi Garde not vetoed the move, which would have brought the cash-strapped Ligue 1 outfit a reported 17 million euros.

Gonalons had even agreed personal terms with the Serie A side, who have followed him since Rafael Benitez took over in Naples last summer. A long-time admirer of the industrious French international, Benitez will finally get his man when the summer transfer window opens, according to Frederic Guerra, Gonalons' representative, who told Radio Crc the move was "80 percent" completed already.

"If Napoli's team is built to win the scudetto, Gonalons will accept. There's a strong possibility. The player and Benitez were in touch with each other several times in January. The player also made his decision based on the current coach. Benitez has been following Gonalons for a certain time."

The OL captain may not be the only one turning out for the former Liverpool and Chelsea coach next season. While centre-back Samuel Umtiti has also been linked, Guerra suggested Napoli are interested in taking another Lyon youth academy product to southern Italy in the shape of creative midfielder Clement Grenier.

"He always watches Napoli play, and told me it would be the ideal city for him," Guerra, who also represents Grenier, told Corriere dello Sport. "Tactically, he's a playmaker, a little like Platini or Maradona. But he's also like Pirlo, because he can play on the right wing or in a deep-lying role."

Guerra added he would be contacting Napoli's sporting director, Riccardo Bigon, saying: "I'm going to call him today to see if he's in Naples on Monday so that we can fix a meeting."
