Ghana chief dismisses WC squad 'leak'

FIFA secretary Jerome Valcke speaks of concerns with World Cup stadium preparations.

Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi has dismissed a 30-man provisional World Cup squad released by the Ghana News Agency as "a figment of someone’s imagination."

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah may have found a contender for his WC squad.
Kwesi Appiah will not officially name his provisional Ghana World Cup squad until May 12.

Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah is due to name his provisional squad on May 12 before Ghana undergo preparations for the tournament in Brazil.

The GNA report -- which suggests that former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong and Leicester defender Jeffrey Schlupp will feature -- has provoked much debate in Ghana, yet Nyantakyi insists that there is no truth behind the 'leaked' squad, and dismissed the rumours out of hand.

"This purported leaked list is the figment of someone’s imagination," ghanasoccernet.com reports Nyantakyi as telling reporters on Thursday.

"I think someone dreamed of it and decided to publish it but the coach is yet to present anything to us.

"It is speculation and not official. [Appiah] will present his list to us on May 12 and it will be announced."

The Ghanaian national side will travel to Rotterdam in May to begin their preparations for a tough qualifying group phase that includes Germany, Portugal and the United States.
