Ryan Giggs backed to make his mark

The FC crew discuss David Moyes' manners and Alex Ferguson's role to help appoint a new Manchester United manager.

Ryan Giggs has what it takes to impress during his interim stint as Manchester United manager, Eric Harrison has told talkSPORT.

Smith: Moyes' failure hurts football managers everywhere
• Marcotti: It's vital that Utd find a director of football

Harrison is a respected figure at Old Trafford, having been credited with developing the famous Class of '92 which included Giggs, Paul Scholes and David Beckham.

Giggs has been placed in temporary charge at United following David Moyes' sacking on Tuesday, and the Welshman has been backed to impress during his four matches at the helm.

“He is a legend at the club," Harrison said. "He is up there with likes of Bobby Charlton and Denis Law. He is well respected with all the players and supporters and he will get the atmosphere better on the training ground and at Old Trafford."

Harrison added: "I used to call him a football nut because he took everything on board. He has got a chance [to be a top manager].”

Ex-Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson echoed those sentiments in his autobiography, published last year: "Ryan could definitely be a manager because he's so wise and players invariably respect him.

"His relative quietness would not be a barrier. There are plenty of non-vocal managers. But your character must be strong."
