Barcelona have welcomed FIFA’s move to temporarily suspend the transfer ban which had been imposed for breaking youth transfer regulations.
FIFA announced early on Wednesday that it had decided to provisionally lift the sanction, pending all appeals, meaning the Camp Nou club will be able to buy players this summer.
Barca reacted with a club statement saying they were happy with the development.
“FC Barcelona has responded positively to the decision announced today by FIFA’s Appeal Committee to provisionally grant suspensive effect to the appeal made by the club against the sanction imposed by FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee,” the statement said.
“The sanction was announced by the FIFA Disciplinary Commission last April 2 and prevented the club from signing players during the next two transfer windows. FC Barcelona presented an appeal against the measure within the required period. FC Barcelona declares its utmost respect for the resolutions pronounced by the bodies responsible for sporting justice.”
Barcelona were banned by FIFA in April from signing any players for two consecutive transfer windows after being found guilty of repeatedly breaching transfer regulations.
