Rio Ferdinand keen to stay at United

Shaka Hislop believes that Manchester United's global influence could aid them in the upcoming transfer window.

Rio Ferdinand has revealed he wants to continue playing for Manchester United next season.

Rio Ferdinand has been heavily tipped to leave Man Utd this summer.
Rio Ferdinand's Manchester United contract expires at the end of the season.

Payne: A stark reminder

Ferdinand, 35, has endured an indifferent 2013-14 campaign at United, and has been in and out of the starting XI under manager David Moyes.

The pair have reportedly been at odds, and with Ferdinand's Red Devils career apparently coming to a close, he hit out at the Scot's managerial methods earlier this season.

The former England international also declared that United’s first campaign under Moyes had made it difficult for him to go about his daily life.

However, while speaking as a pundit for BT Sport, Ferdinand, whose current Red Devils deal expires in the summer, stated that he planned to continue playing next season -- and hoped it would be at Old Trafford.

When asked what his plans for next term are, he said: “Hopefully still playing -- I want to continue playing. I'm enjoying my football and my legs haven't given way yet.

“I want to continue -- whether that be at Manchester United or somewhere else, depending on what the club want to do. Time will tell, we'll have to wait until the end of the season.

“We'll do what we did last season -- wait until the end of the season, get it sorted out and speak to see where we're at.”

Ferdinand insisted he would love to stay at United, adding: “Of course -- that's the dream. I'm living the dream and I'd like to continue [at United]. But we'll have to wait and see.”
