Argentina slump in FIFA ranking

The United States moved up one spot to 13th in the latest addition of the FIFA rankings released today.

Portugal have risen to third and Colombia are now South America's top-ranked nation after Argentina slid three places in the latest FIFA ranking.

All-time Top 20 WC Players: No. 12 - Mario Kempes

World champions Spain remain top and Germany stay second in April's standing, with Copa America holders Uruguay climbing one place to fifth.

USA's friendly with Mexico was one of the few internationals to be played over the past month.

Argentina are now joint-sixth with this year's World Cup hosts Brazil, who have risen three places.

Though no top-10 team played last month, the movement in the ranking was caused by earlier results in a four-year cycle of matches decreasing in value.

Switzerland, Italy and Greece complete the top 10, with the latter returning there for the first time since October 2012.

England have risen one place to 11th, while the United States climbed to 13th after drawing 2-2 with Mexico in a friendly on April 2. El Tri moved up one place to 19th as a result of that draw.

Scotland were the biggest climbers, soaring 15 places up to 22nd.

Ivory Coast, at No. 21, lead the African nations, while Iran are the highest-ranked Asian confederation team at No. 37.

Australia, at No. 59, are the lowest-ranked team at the World Cup, which kicks off in Sao Paulo in June 12.
