Ramirez eyeing Serie A return - agent
The agent of Southampton midfielder Gaston Ramirez claims his client is keen on returning to Serie A after struggling to settle in the Premier League.
Pablo Betancourt told Italian website IlSussidario.net that Ramirez, 23, is not happy with his lack of opportunities with the Saints and would favour a return to Italy, with AC Milan a possible destination.
"We're just trying to understand which club can make the right offer to the Saints," Betancourt said. "Ramirez played very well in Italy and a lot of Serie A clubs have positive memories of him."
Ramirez's chances have been limited at Southampton, whom he joined from Bologna in 2012. He has made just 17 Premier League appearances for the Saints this season, only making the starting XI twice.
"He's hardly playing, even though they made such a considerable investment in him two summers ago," added Betancourt. "You can't say today that he's all that important to Southampton, considering he's always on the bench. He enjoyed his time in Serie A and that's why he would be delighted to return, but we've got to find an agreement with Southampton."
Milan, who could lose Kaka in the summer due to their failure to qualify for the Champions League, would be an appealing destination, his agent said.
"It would be an honour for Gaston to inherit the place of a great player like Kaka," Betancourt said. "How could you say no to Milan, who are a great club, among the best in Europe? It would be a huge opportunity, but let's not get carried away. There's nothing definite right now."
