Marouane Fellaini and Rafael have been ruled out of Manchester United’s Champions League clash with Bayern Munich, but Wayne Rooney has confirmed he is travelling with his teammates.
Rooney missed United's 4-0 win at Newcastle on Saturday with a toe injury, casting doubts over whether he would be available for Wednesday's trip to the Allianz Arena.
“Good training session with the lads ahead of the Bayern Munich match tomorrow night,” Rooney wrote. “It's a massive game for us against a top side but we'll be going in confident and looking to progress into the semifinals.
At Bayern's prematch news conference in Munich manager Pep Guardiola was in no doubt that Rooney would line up for the Red Devils, saying: "Rooney is going to play, 100 percent. He is going to play, I bet you a big glass of beer."
Guardiola described Rooney as "a big player, one of the best I have seen in my career."
United will be without Fellaini and Rafael, however, with both players missing from training on Tuesday, while Jonny Evans is not quite ready to return.
United impressed in their quarterfinal first leg with Champions League holders Bayern, holding them to a 1-1 draw after Bastian Schweinsteiger cancelled out Nemanja Vidic's opener.
