Bale relishing role in Real's 'BBC'

Gareth Bale says he is really enjoying life as part of Real Madrid’s “BBC” attacking trident alongside Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Bale, Benzema and Ronaldo have scored 86 goals between them so far this season.

• Ronaldo limps out of training
• Train: No need for Real to panic

The Spanish press came up with the “BBC” acronym a couple of months ago in recognition of the trio’s attacking exploits. They have mustered a remarkable 86 goals between them so far this season -- Ronaldo 45, Benzema 23, Bale 18 -- while also showing a real understanding especially when the team breaks quickly into space.

Wales captain Bale told Madrid’s official website he is enjoying the connection with Ronaldo and Benzema but was keen to stress that the whole Madrid team deserved praise.

“Obviously it is fantastic to play with great players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, but it's not just us three,” Bale said. “I think the whole team has played well throughout the season. So it's great to play with everyone, I'm really enjoying it.”

The former Tottenham winger added that he did not think his approach had changed too much in Spain, but is sure he has improved since arriving at the Bernabeu last summer.

“I don't think I've changed much,” Bale said. “The style in Spain, in comparison with the Premier League, is based more in keeping possession, but my style of play hasn't changed much. I'm very comfortable here.

“It's amazing to be able to train with world-class players on a daily basis. It is helping me lift my game and makes everyone a better player. I love training every day and I try to improve all the time as a player.”

Bale, who scored the opener in last weekend’s 3-0 Champions League quarterfinal first leg win over Borussia Dortmund in Madrid said he was confident his team could finish the job in Tuesday’s return game in Germany.

“Last Wednesday's match at home was great, we played well and deserved to win, but it will be a different game in Dortmund,” he said. “They'll come out fighting and we have to approach it like any other game, looking to win it and seal our place in the semifinals.”
