Nani likely to leave United, says agent

Nani is likely to quit Manchester United in the summer, his Italian agent has told Viola News.

Mitten: Man United hopes grow at home and abroad

The winger, who has only made five league starts in a season that has been interrupted by a serious hamstring injury, has been at Old Trafford since 2007.

And he signed a new, lucrative five-year contract last September to keep him at the club until 2018.

Andrea Pastorello, who represents Nani in Italy, admitted prospective buyers could struggle to match his current rate of pay but said he expects the Portugal international to move on.

He said: “Nani is a very important player and at this time the only thing I can say is that he is likely to leave Manchester.”

United have loaned midfielder Anderson, another of Pastorello’s clients, to Fiorentina for the second half of the season and he said Serie A clubs would struggle to afford Nani’s wages.

He added: “The problem for Fiorentina and other Italian clubs is the player’s salary. But we will evaluate all bids.

“Our relationship with United is great. Fiorentina have to speak with Manchester United about Anderson and maybe there will be an opportunity to talk about Nani, too.”

Nani has scored 41 goals in 227 games for United, winning four league titles and the 2008 Champions League.
