Blanc wants to see more from Lucas

ESPN FC's Gab Marcotti gives his take on Chelsea's upcoming second leg tie with PSG.

Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc has told Lucas Moura he has to be "more consistent" if he wants to become a major star at the club.

Johnson: Job not yet done for PSG

Lucas, 21, was one of PSG's most impressive performers in Saturday's 3-0 Ligue 1 win over Stade de Reims, as Blanc dug deep into his squad to preserve many of his first-choice players for Tuesday's Champions League quarterfinal second leg at Chelsea.

The Brazil international’s sparkling display, which included him making a significant contribution for his team's second goal, was all too rare for someone who arrived for an estimated 42 million euros from Sao Paulo in January of last year.

And Blanc, who handed Lucas only his 15th league start this season, told French media that his young attacking midfielder needs to show his talent more regularly.

"Lucas wakes up from time to time, he does some mad things, then fades and then he's off again. He needs to improve, be more consistent in his performances, because he has great talent in those legs," said Blanc, who could well employ Lucas in the starting XI against Chelsea, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic sidelined by injury.

"He needs to learn to move well, that requires work. I expect him to do crazy moves more often, but we also need to find him tracking back more often. From time to time, he goes missing, he has to put that right."
