Mourinho confident over Terry stay

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho expects captain John Terry to remain at the club.

Worrall: Salah impresses for Blues

Terry has been in outstanding form this season and helped Chelsea to an eighth successive clean sheet at home in all competitions as they returned to the top of the Premier League following a 3-0 win over Stoke, a result which brought an end to two defeats in the week after Chelsea suffered losses at Crystal Palace and Paris Saint-Germain.

Terry's contract expires in June, but Mourinho is confident that the 33-year-old will sign a new deal.

“The only idea I have is that the manager wants him to stay but the contracts are between the player and the club,” he told the media. “I never have any involvement in this.

“They will find the right moment. The club knows I want him to stay. The club wants him to stay, he wants to stay, so normally he is staying.”

The Mail on Sunday suggests Terry has been offered a one-year extension with reduced wages, but the 33-year-old is said to be demanding more.
