Seedorf pleased with Milan progress

AC Milan coach Clarence Seedorf felt his team showed they were heading in the right direction after Saturday's 3-0 Serie A triumph over Chievo.

Paul: Kaka stars in Milan win

Mario Balotelli gave the Rossoneri a flying start and Kaka, making his 300th appearance for the club, doubled their lead later in the first half before adding a stunning third after the interval.

Only Milan's wastefulness prevented them from winning even more convincingly, while Cyril Thereau did his side no favours by hitting a late penalty against the crossbar.

The result saw Milan pick up back-to-back wins for only the second time this term and meant they climbed to eighth spot -- six points behind the top five ahead of Sunday's matches.

“We have to try and get as many points as possible and keep fighting till the end of the season as there are many teams ahead of us and therefore we have to stay focused,” Seedorf told the club’s official website. “The players did very well and they're growing on a physical level as well as a mental level.

“Winning helps a lot as far as that goes. I've been working on balance since I got here, but that will come with time. I had to get to know the players and every day I'm getting to know them better. The same is true for them getting to know me.”

The Dutchman added: “Results will push us up the table and [on Saturday] we took a step forward. Next week we have to do the same, moving forward game by game.”
