Thohir had told La Gazzetta dello Sport on Tuesday that it was up to Sagna -- whose Arsenal contract expires at the end of the season -- whether or not to accept an offer from the Nerazzurri.

After landing at Milan Malpensa on Wednesday morning for his latest visit, Thohir confirmed that the right-back had turned him down.

“Sagna has decided to stay in the Premier League,” Thohir told journalists in Milan. “But we still need a new full-back.”

The focus could now turn back to Manchester United left-back Patrice Evra, although Thohir says he has “had no contact with him.”

The Inter president also distanced himself from suggestions he will sign one of Edin Dzeko, Alvaro Morata or Fernando Torres to boost the squad's strikeforce.

“The media have raised these names,” he said. “All I can say is that we need a great player of their calibre.”
