Berlusconi happy with Galliani role

ESPN FC's Gab Marcotti discusses the protest AC Milan supporters have begun to stage.

AC Milan vice-president Barbara Berlusconi says it was her father's decision to appoint Clarence Seedorf as coach, while saying her relationship with general manager Adriano Galliani is intense, but positive.

• Paul: Milan stop the rot
• Seedorf: No ultimatum
• Maldini anger at Milan plight

In an interview to be published by FourFourTwo Italia on Saturday, the 29-year-old, who assumed more responsibility at the club run by her father last December, admitted she did not always see eye-to-eye with Galliani, although their disputes have all been helpful.

"In recent months, it's certainly been intense with Adriano Galliani, but it's something that, today, I would regard positively," Berlusconi said. "It's been useful and constructive, regarding all facets of the club which will lead to significant changes."

Berlusconi's demand for more influence at the club last November led to Galliani tendering his resignation. Silvio Berlusconi, the club president, convinced Galliani to carry on in a role of general manager, focusing on the sporting aspects with his daughter managing the commercial affairs.

"Increasing the revenue is of fundamental importance for us," added Berlusconi. "That's the only way we can keep control of our own finances, improve the structures and enable us to sign more top players. It's a challenge which will deliver its first results in the mid-term, not within three years."

Whether Seedorf will still be in charge of the Rossoneri then remains to be seen, but Berlusconi says "it was my father's choice" to appoint him and dismiss Massimiliano Allegri.
