Juan Bernat enjoying life at Valencia

Reported Manchester United and AC Milan target Juan Bernat says he is happy with how he is developing this season at Valencia.

Juan Bernat has impressed for Valencia this season.

Bernat, 21, has thrived in the last few months at Los Che under coach Juan Antonio Pizzi and has made a total of 33 appearances this term.

According to Superdeporte, United representatives have been at a number of recent games at the Mestalla, with scouts from Milan also travelling specifically to watch the left-back in last week’s Europa League last-16 second-leg win at home to Ludogorets Razgrad.

Despite the reported interest, however, the homegrown youngster has told Valencia’s official website that he is delighted with his current form, while he is focused on maintaining it for the rest of the campaign.

“I am very happy at the moment,” Bernat said. “Now the final stage of the season is coming and I hope to play better still.”

Having previously been viewed more as a winger, this season has seen Bernat establish himself firmly as Valencia’s first-choice left-back, following the exits of Aly Cissokho to Liverpool last summer and Andres Guardado to Bayer Leverkusen in January.

Capped by Spain at U16, U17, U19 and U20 levels, he made his U21 debut against Belgium in February 2013, and is now a regular in Julen Lopetegui’s side.
