Blanc: Edinson Cavani happy at PSG

Laurent Blanc has insisted striker Edinson Cavani is happy at Paris Saint-Germain despite speculation linking him with Manchester United and Chelsea.

Cavani's camp have been contacted by the Premier League duo, according to French media reports, with regard to a potential move across the Channel next summer.

The Uruguayan international's positioning by Blanc in a wide role -- to accommodate Zlatan Ibrahimovic through the middle of PSG's 4-3-3 -- is also reportedly a cause for the 27-year-old's malaise.

However, following his recovery from a transatlantic trip to Montevideo to iron out details of his divorce and his return to fitness after a thigh injury, Cavani was named in Blanc's matchday squad for Wednesday's Champions League last-16 second-leg tie with Bayer Leverkusen.

"It's you who create the rumours about Cavani," Blanc told a news conference. "The player is injured so he can't respond on the pitch. He has some personal problems added to that, and people take advantage to create a Cavani problem. However, the player is happy here."

And Cavani himself has insisted he is happy with life in the French capital during an interview with A Bola.

"I don't know why they say I am not feeling well here in Paris, but that's not true," he said. "What we talk about in the dressing room should stay there and the private life of a football player has to remain private. I am feeling well in Paris and at Paris Saint-Germain."

The former Palermo and Napoli striker could be set for a new deal, with Le Parisien reporting PSG are willing to up his current monthly wage of 478,000 euros to ensure he remains at the Parc des Princes beyond this season.
