Robin van Persie could miss the Netherlands’ friendly against France because he is ill.
The Manchester United striker sat out training on Tuesday and is a doubt for Wednesday’s game in Paris, along with winger Arjen Robben, who has a thigh injury.
Manager Louis van Gaal said he was not concerned if both, who are guaranteed places in his World Cup squad, do have to miss the match against Didier Deschamps’ team.
He said: “We need to see how it goes, but we won’t take any risks with them. It is not a problem if they do not play as they are not players I need to test ahead of the World Cup. Robben and Van Persie will be at the World Cup regardless.”
Van Persie, who is the Netherlands’ record goalscorer with 41 goals from his 81 caps, is United’s 14-goal top scorer this season and has struck four times in his last six games but has missed much of the campaign through injury.
It is not clear whether Van Persie is at risk of missing his club’s trip to West Brom in the Premier League on Saturday.
