Cavani warned against move to England

PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic believes that the Ligue 1 title is now theirs to lose.

Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani has been advised by Nancy boss and compatriot Pablo Correa not to leave the French champions for Manchester United or Chelsea.

Edinson Cavani opened the scoring for PSG against Lyon.
Edinson Cavani is said to be unhappy playing out wide for PSG despite a productive season.

• Johnson: Gap widens

Cavani, 26, scored on his return from injury after coming off the bench in PSG's 2-0 win over Marseille on Sunday.

It was the Uruguayan's 14th league goal since joining the Ligue 1 leaders from Napoli for a French record fee of 64 million euros last summer.

But rumours persist that Cavani will not tolerate being played out wide for a second season in Paris, despite having a contract that runs until 2018.

David Moyes and Jose Mourinho are known admirers of the player, but Uruguayan coach Correa told L'Equipe: "It would be a bad idea for him to go.

"I'm hearing it said that he's unhappy at PSG but Cavani doesn't have an arrogant or egocentric personality like some big stars.

"The proof is that he's very quickly adapted to [PSG manager] Laurent Blanc's system."

Correa, who was Tony Cascarino's strike partner during his playing days at the Stade Marcel Picot, said that Uruguayans are not concerned that Cavani is playing in what is perceived by some to be a weaker league.

"That debate doesn't exist in Uruguay for the simple and good reason that Ligue 1 isn't broadcast there, unlike the Premier League or La Liga," Correa continued.

"On the other hand, people are interested in PSG and know that the club has the ability to become a huge team in Europe."

Stamford Bridge boss Jose Mourinho suggested it would be “difficult” for his side to sign Cavani due to the amount PSG paid for the forward along with his “incredible” contract.
