Wilshere: Arsenal are still in title race

Jack Wilshere has told Sky Sports that Arsenal are still in the race for the Premier League title, and is relishing the prospect of make-or-break games against Manchester City and Chelsea this month.

Jack Wilshere reacts to Arsenal's terrible start at Anfield.
Arsenal face a daunting fixture list if they are to get back in the Premier League title race.

• Cross: Gunners' frustrations
• Mangan: Title hopes fade

The Gunners' ambitions were hit on Saturday when they lost 1-0 at Stoke and slipped to third in the table, with league leaders Chelsea extending the gap to four points by beating Fulham 3-1 while Liverpool moved up to second with a 3-0 win at Southampton.

"The good thing is that this month we play all the teams at the top," Wilshere said. "If we win those games, we can be up there. We've got to keep going to the end.

"Anything can happen in this league as you've seen this weekend and in previous weeks."

Arsene Wenger's men could drop to fourth if Manuel Pellegrini's team win their two games in hand, and the Gunners have a daunting month of fixtures to navigate if they are to keep their hopes of silverware alive.

A trip to North London rivals Tottenham on March 16 is followed by another away game against Chelsea, before Arsenal welcome City to the Emirates.

They also face the complicating factor of having to go to Bayern Munich in the Champions League before the Spurs clash, needing to turn around a 2-0 first-leg defeat against Pep Guardiola's side to stay in the competition.
