Joel Campbell hopes for Arsenal chance

Joel Campbell has told ESPN Deportes of his ambitions of breaking into the Arsenal team in the near future after scoring an impressive goal for Olympiakos to hand his side a 2-0 victory over Manchester United on Tuesday evening.

• Payne: Reds fall into ruin

The 21-year-old Costa Rica international is currently on loan to the Greek side from the Gunners, and netted the second against David Moyes' men to put Thrylos in a commanding position in their Champions League last-16 tie.

Campbell stated that while he is focused on succeeding for his current side, he needs to keep on improving in an effort to make an impression on Arsene Wenger.

"I am still hopeful of playing for Arsenal but I have not been given the chance yet, I hope to keep working at Olympiakos," Campbell said.

"I am making sure that I take this opportunity. Thank God I scored a goal and celebrated it with my father, girlfriend and cousins.

"There are many things I can improve on though; I am 21 and I have to keep working."

While Olympiakos take a two-goal lead to Old Trafford in three weeks' time, Campbell insists his side cannot take anything for granted, and must show the same level of courage displayed at the Karaiskakis Stadium on Tuesday.

"We played every well against a very good team and we weren't intimidated," he continued. "There is still a very hard game at Old Trafford and we hope to advance to the next round."
