Everton await Traore injury update

Everton striker Lacina Traore is set for further tests to determine the extent of the hamstring injury that forced him out of Saturday’s 1-0 Premier League defeat at Chelsea.

O'Farrell: Final-third problems

The striker is facing a spell out of action after pulling up with the problem just minutes before kick-off at Stamford Bridge.

But sources have told ESPN FC that it is not the same hamstring injury that delayed the Ivory Coast forward’s debut for Everton following his arrival on loan from French Ligue 1 club Monaco in January.

The 23-year-old sustained his original injury in December, shortly before a busy transfer window that first saw him move from Russian Premier League side Anzhi Makhachkala to Monaco on a four-and-a-half-year contract, before switching to Goodison Park on loan for the rest of the season.

He finally made his debut in the 3-1 FA Cup fifth-round win over Swansea on Feb. 17, scoring the opening goal.

But a new hamstring problem forced Everton manager Roberto Martinez to make a late change to his lineup, with Steven Naismith stepping in.
