Sammer: No plans to sell Toni Kroos

Bayern Munich sporting director Matthias Sammer has insisted that Bayern Munich will not sell Toni Kroos, amid new speculation about a multi-million euro offer from Manchester United, while not ruling out a move for Schalke youngster Julian Draxler.

Schaaf: Sunday stroll

Midfielder Kroos is under contract at Bayern until 2015, but the Germany international has yet to reach an agreement on a new deal with the German and European champions. He is reportedly on 86,000 euros a week, and hopes to at least double his wages if he is to put pen to paper.

The 24-year-old led Bayern Munich to a 2-0 victory at Arsenal last Wednesday, and afterwards German media heaped praise on the former Hansa Rostock player.

Kroos, dubbed the "most complete German midfielder" by Berliner Zeitung, has been linked with a transfer to Old Trafford over the last couple of months, with the latest reports in English media suggesting that David Moyes could more than treble Kroos' salary, putting him on some 300,000 euros a week.

But, speaking to Bild am Sonntag, Sammer ruled out that he could leave the Allianz Arena before his contract expires.

“We value Toni. We have underlined that several times,” Sammer said. “Toni is under contract until the summer of 2015. Until then nothing will change. And we try hard to make him stay beyond that.”

Sammer did not give anything away about the contract negotiations, which, according to earlier statements by Kroos, have now been put on hold until the summer. “The constellation during contract talks has to be coined by trust. That’s why I won’t answer that question,” Sammer said.

Coach Pep Guardiola is adamant that Bayern want Kroos to stay at the club.

There has been speculation that Bayern could make a move for Draxler, should Kroos leave the club in the summer. Draxler, who was heavily courted by Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger during the January transfer window, has a 45.5 million-euro release clause in his contract at Schalke.

Sammer circled around a real answer when asked of Bayern's interest in the player, and said: “In the interests of FC Bayern I can’t principally and generally rule out anything. No matter for which player, national or international. And why should I? Because I will never rule out the best for the club. And you will see, who will be the best in the future.”
