Juergen Klopp wary of Hamburg trip

Borussia Dortmund coach Juergen Klopp says he is wary of the visit to Hamburg on Saturday, despite Die Rothosen’s well-documented troubles of late.

 Buczko: Hamburg still tricky

Dortmund have picked up 10 points in their last four Bundesliga games, and now only trail second-placed Bayer Leverkusen by one point.

Hamburg, in contrast, have been sliding down the table in recent weeks, dropping to 17th following seven consecutive defeats.

On Monday, former Hannover coach Mirko Slomka took charge of the club -- succeeding Bert van Marwijk -- and Klopp feels the change could have a positive effect on the team.

“They’ve turned everything upside down. It will be interesting to find out what effect this will have,” Klopp told a news conference.

“We can’t just go there with our returned confidence and expect an insecure opponent. We need to work to make them insecure. With Slomka, it’s a new beginning for the Hamburg players.”

The Dortmund boss added that all the scouting and monitoring of Hamburg his side have conducted in recent weeks will now count for nothing.

“Even when we have their starting formation, we won’t be able to say in which formation they’ll play. Ideally, they will also not know that,” he said.

Klopp is also expecting a unique atmosphere in front of a capacity crowd at the Imtech Arena.

“Hamburg will be special,” he said. “We are not allowed to underestimate Hamburg. I’d like to think that every ball won will be celebrated like they have just scored a goal.”

Klopp will most likely have to do without Germany international Mats Hummels, who suffered a minor setback to his ankle injury this week. Fit-again Marco Reus, meanwhile, is likely to start as a substitute, but could come off the bench to make an appearance.
