Fernandinho back, Aguero out vs. Barca

Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas is mindful of the threat Manchester City pose when the two sides meet in the UEFA Champions League last 16 phase.

Fernandinho is set to make his Manchester City comeback against Barcelona on Tuesday but Sergio Aguero has been ruled out.

Bennett: Confident Kompany
Curtis: City thoroughbreds

Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho has missed City’s last three games with a muscle injury but trained on both days since Saturday's 2-0 FA Cup win over Chelsea, and manager Manuel Pellegrini confirmed he is available for the first leg of the last-16 tie at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday.

"He has a chance because he is in the squad list," Pellegrini told his prematch news conference. "We will see [on Tuesday] who are the 11 starters. He worked without any problems."

It means Pellegrini faces a decision whether to bring back the Brazilian or to keep Javi Garcia in the team for the Champions League tie.

Aguero is still sidelined by a calf problem which is also likely to keep him out of the weekend's Premier League match against Stoke City.

Pellegrini added: "Aguero is not fit. We will see if he can be fit on Saturday but maybe that also is difficult."

The Chilean is wary of Spanish champions Barcelona, but is adamant City will continue to play the same brand of attacking football despite the quality of the opposition.

"When you play against Barca you always must consider important things but the most important thing is to continue being the same team you see every week in the Premier League," he said. "It is important to continue having the same style of play and the personality. We are not just going to think about defending but what we can do with the ball."

However, Pellegrini did not rule out switching shape to accommodate another midfielder at the expense of a striker.

He added: "I believe in the style of play but you can make changes and play in different ways."
