FIFA 'won't release Neymar deal details'

FIFA has reportedly refused to hand over documents relating to Neymar’s move to Barcelona last summer to the Spanish judge who is investigating a possible fraud in the deal.

Santos take action over Neymar deal

In January it was reported that investigating judge Pablo Ruz had requested that FIFA, Barcelona and the Neymar & Neymar (N&N) agency run by the player’s father hand over the various documents lodged for the transfer, amid reports that different versions of the contracts involved exist.

Barca subsequently published details of the various elements involved in the deal on their official club website.

The Catalan club admitted that they paid out a total of 86.2 million euros, including a 17.1 million euros ‘transfer fee’ to Santos, 40 million euros ‘penalty payment’ to Neymar’s camp.

The complex deal also saw a ‘collaboration agreement’ with Santos worth 7.9 million euros, two friendlies with the Brazilian club worth nine million euros and 8.5 million euros paid to Neymar Senior for services related to marketing, scouting and development work in Sao Paulo.

Spanish news agency EFE now say it has been told that FIFA has declined to provide the documents to the Spanish investigation as the Geneva-based ruling body only discloses information which is private and sensitive if requested to do so by a Swiss court.

Santos, meanwhile, are considering appealing to FIFA after a Brazilian court this week knocked back their attempt to force Neymar Senior to show them all contracts signed between him and Barcelona.

The club’s president Odilio Rodrigues said in Marca that the player’s father was frustrating Santos’ lawyers’ attempts to clarify whether it should have received some of the money which went to Neymar’s camp as part of the deal.

“Our club wants to get access to the documents relating to Neymar’s contract with Barcelona,” Rodrigues said. “We want to know if this payment is part of the player’s transfer or not. [Neymar Senior] has always refused to show the documents to Santos’ legal department.”

Neymar senior, Sandro Rosell, who stepped down as Barcelona club president in the wake of the controversy, and his successor as chief of the Catalan club Josep Maria Bartomeu could all still be called by Ruz to testify in the court investigation which is ongoing in Madrid.
