Lens stun Lyon to reach last eight

Lens players celebrate as they knocked Lyon out the Coupe de France.
Lens players celebrate as they knocked Lyon out the Coupe de France.

Late goals from Pierrick Valdivia and Jean-Philippe Gbamin earned Lens a Coupe de France quarterfinal tie with Monaco after a 2-1 win at Lyon.

Jimmy Briand opened the scoring for Lyon after eight minutes when he headed in a cross from Miguel Lopes.

But Lens left it until late to equalise when Valdivia scored from the penalty spot in second half injury time.

Gbamin added a second early in the first period of extra-time and Lens held on to earn a trip to face Monaco.
