Wolfsburg deny Arnold release clause

Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs has denied the existence of a release clause in Maximilian Arnold’s contract amid speculation linking the youngster with Arsenal and Juventus.

Schalke fear Draxler exit

On Wednesday, the Daily Mirror reported that Arsenal and Juve were keeping tabs on the 19-year-old, who has been labelled the “new Ozil” by German football weekly kicker.

Arnold’s form has been key to Wolfsburg’s rise to sixth in the Bundesliga, and led to the club allowing Brazilian playmaker Diego to join Atletico Madrid last month, but the Mirror had claimed he had a clause in his contract that would permit him to leave for 9.7 million euros.

However, Allofs told kicker: “There is no release clause.”

Arnold’s agent, Karl Herzog, also played down speculation his client could leave the Volkswagen Arena, telling the magazine: “Max knows what he has in Wolfsburg, and VfL know what they have in Max.”

The Germany youth international, who has been moved out onto the wing since the arrival of Kevin De Bruyne from Chelsea last month, is under contract until 2017.
