Christian Vieri to take coaching course

Former Italy international Christian Vieri has announced he is to study for his coaching badge, although he suggested it may be “pointless.”

Christian Vieri retired in 2009.

The former Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan striker may be contemplating a return to the game after being cleared of any involvement in the bankruptcy of a Milanese furnishing company, Bfc, which he had loaned three million euros.

A trial on Wednesday found that Vieri was not in any way to be held responsible for the company's collapse but rather that he was one of the creditors owed money by Bfc.

With that issue now behind him, he announced via Twitter that he is going to enrol for the course to become a coach.

“OFFICIAL…I'm going to do the coaching course,” he wrote.

Moments after his first tweet, however, Vieri posted another that cast doubt over his actual intentions, writing: “Even if the course is pointless... but I'll do it anyway.”

A veteran of 13 different clubs during a playing career which spanned 18 years, the 40-year-old, who won 49 caps for his country, hung up his boots in 2009.
