UEFA partially upholds PSG appeal

Laurent Blanc will be in the Paris Saint-Germain dugout for their Champions League tie at Bayer Leverkusen after UEFA partially upheld the French club's appeal.

Blanc had been told he would have to follow the first leg of his team's last-16 tie on Feb. 18 from the VIP section of the BayArena after UEFA blamed him for delayed kick-offs at three of PSG's group-stage fixtures this season.

However, a witness to the appeal hearing at UEFA HQ in Switzerland on Tuesday told Le Parisien: "PSG's lawyer showed that UEFA's disciplinary regulations do not specify that the coach is the sole person responsible for the punctuality of his players."

The paper claimed no one dared tell Zlatan Ibrahimovic he had to go out for the second half when the Swede dallied in the dressing room during PSG's encounter with Benfica at the Parc des Princes in early October.

It also said an organisational error slowed the players' arrival for the second half of their home game against Olympiakos while officials failed to call players sufficiently early for the second half of PSG's trip to Benfica.

PSG, who were fined 10,000 euros for the incidents, did not appeal against the fine.
