Fabregas hopes for Arsenal consistency

Cesc Fabregas has urged former club Arsenal to remain consistent as they seek to end their nine-year wait for a trophy.

Mangan: Arsenal need to step up with schedule ahead
Wenger: Title race unpredictable

The Barcelona midfielder has been impressed with Wenger’s current crop and hopes that they can maintain their good form despite a fixture schedule which sees them face Liverpool (twice), Manchester United and Bayern Munich in a season-defining fortnight.

Fabregas, who scored 57 goals in 303 appearances for Arsenal, won only the FA Cup and the Community Shield during his eight-year stay, but is hopeful that Wenger's side can go a step further this time around.

“I watch every game of Arsenal’s,” Fabregas told the Daily Mail. “I am very happy how they are playing, they have a strong squad, they are top of the league.”

“I cannot wait to see if they can lift the trophy finally. It would be amazing, they need to be very consistent between now and the end of the season.”

Joining Arsenal as a 16-year-old in 2003, Fabregas' initial involvement was limited to a handful of cup appearances and he was ineligible for a Premier League winners' medal after failing to make a league appearance during the club's famous 'Invincibles' season.

The 2010 World Cup winner insisted that English football was becoming increasingly competitive, adding that he was not surprised to see Chelsea put an end to Manchester City’s 100 percent home league record on Monday night.

“In one season it’s impossible to win every single game, you will always lose,” he said. “Whether it’s the League Cup, FA Cup, Champions League, there’s so many games. The Premier League is a very tough league. Anyone can beat you. It was a very entertaining game.”
