Inter Milan are interested in signing Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic, according to his agent.
Vidic is out of contract at Old Trafford in the summer and, while manager David Moyes has said he is keen to keep the 32-year-old, no new deal has been agreed so far.
The Serb has been linked with several other Italian clubs, including Napoli and Juventus, but Silvano Martina said Inter have made the first approach for the centre-back.
He told InterLive.it: “The Nerazzurri have shown an interest in my client, at least for now.”
Moyes described Vidic in September as “best defender I have ever worked with” but the former CSKA Moscow player has been in and out of his team because of injuries, suspension and team selection.
United could lose their three senior defenders in the summer with Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra both also out of contract.
Vidic is available to return for United when they host Fulham on Sunday after serving a three-match ban for his red card in the 3-1 defeat to Chelsea.
He has scored 20 goals in 287 games for United since joining in January 2006.
